Wall Art

It's funny to me how much has changed in the past year. When I first started this crazy stay at home gig, I was very intolerant of things like this and had a fuse so short you'd hear the bang before your foot got down on the first step away. Now, well I wouldn't encourage the kids to be drawing on the walls but I'm not going to flip my lid either.
I've come to realize that kids are kids and they are going to be kids despite my best efforts. Things like this will happen. Walls will be written on, carpet and furniture will be stained, things will get broken, etc. They are my most prized possessions so as long as they are intact, I don't have much to worry about. I do understand that due to our laid-backness that we will likely find ourselves living with the girls on a pile of demolished rubble by the time they enter the teenage years.
I took the magic eraser into her room the other day to clean the art off and I couldn't bring myself to do it. Something about it, oddly enough, just made me happy and proud. I think we'll leave it for awhile. Part of me thinks it will be a form of delayed punishment. I imagine that in her teenage years it will be kind of embarrassing for her, almost like we won't have to bother pulling out the baby photos.

Something Different...

Just a couple videos today.

Ruby made a witch at school. We attached it to the grab bar in the back seat and put the windows down...good time ensued.

A video of the girls in their natural habitat destroying the playroom with coloring pages.

Keeping Time

Ruby's Dingbats Pink Puppy Watch next to her great-grandfather's antique Elgin. It is amazing for me to think about the spread of time and technology here. I think that watch was made in 1924, just a little over a decade short of being 100 years old. In great shape and still running like a top, it will probably outlive all of us.

Photodump issues...

So Wednesday morning I go to upload the photos for the Photodump and I get this message:

"Whoops! You're out of space. You are currently using 100% of your 1 GB quota for photos. Upgrade storage. Photos are stored in your Picasa Web Albums account and are included in your 1 GB free quota for photos. Additional storage you purchase is shared between several Google products and is in addition to your free quota. Learn more."

Funny that I've never had this issue on my other blog despite the face that is has been around longer. Oh well. I've found a workaround for now...let's hope it lasts.

Too much fun?

Man...I think we found out this weekend if it was indeed possible. Friday we had some friends over and discovered the only thing more fun than a house full of two awesome girls is a house full of four awesome girls. Laughter was almost constant and everyone had a killer time. The pairings were different than I expected, two pairs of older and younger vs direct age pairings...but hey, it worked great!

Saturday we attended a birthday party at Jump Zone. I am pretty sure I have more fun at these than the girls do. I was hitting the bouncy house, the slide, etc. I took Sailor up the slide with me and she loved it. Ruby didn't stop for the two hours we were there.

That night we had dinner with another couple who don't have children but Ruby and Sailor adore them and I am pretty sure the feeling is mutual. We played with a ball in the back yard and ate some of the best lasagna I've ever had. They wanted some pictures for their Christmas card so olivia agreed to take some. Of course the girls wanted in on the action so there are a couple shots with them holding the girls.

The weekend was great, made us want to do it every weekend...so if you haven't seen or hung out with us in awhile...it's coming!

Blue

The ladies that run the Rec Center daycare were nice enough to give the girls some ink stamps to take home to play with. They had a blast with them, inking all over paper and then their arms. Well Sailor thought she would do with the stamp what she does with everything else: put it into her mouth.

We should have known something crazy was going on because when it get too quit, you know you are in trouble. olivia came in to check on them and found blue ink all over Sailor's hands, on her lips and covering her tongue. Thankfully everything for kids is non-toxic these days and we don't worry too much.

For a couple days, you could see it when she would open her mouth, laugh, etc. Kids are awesome.

Baptism

So the weekend was pretty much a blur...but a wonderful, awesome blur. We had a lot of family come through, tons of coming and going, all for the girl's baptism. I didn't take a lot of pictures (left it to the pros since I had my hands full) but here's one to tide you over.

It is always good too see all of the out of town relatives and especially good to share something like this with them. I swear if you looked at the house from the outside you might have seen the walls expanding and contracting with all the activity.

I am glad we did a "practice run" so to speak on the baptism or else Ruby might have tried to run right out the door. She was a good sport in the end and Sailor was...well she was just Sailor: happy and content as always. They both wanted to play with the water once it was over. We enjoyed a great lunch at the house afterwards (thanks Mom) and made the most of the time we had before company hit the road.

Occasions like this are very special to us and we are thankful for everyone who came to town and everyone who came to the church service. Your presence and all of your kind words and complements mean a lot to our family. We thank you for sharing the occasion with us!

Halloween

We had a great one this year: friends and family over to the house, lots of neighbors with lights on and a haunted trail within walking distance. I carved a pumpkin for the first time and we are going to try roasting the seeds. We lit the candle inside before heading out and it was still burning when I woke up this morning...pretty awesome.
