Final Post

This is the final post I'll be doing on this blog. The content will remain, there just won't be any updates. It has been a fun ride, big thanks to everyone who read, shared and commented. If you want to see more of the girls, you can follow olivia on Instagram here.

Time passes all to quickly, love the people close to you and enjoy the time you have while you can.

Hunting

So it looks like I will be going back to work soon. olivia is off for the summer and since Ru will be starting kindergarten she'll go to school, Sailor will go to full time daycare and I'll get a job and go back to a daily grind. Job hunting is no fun. If your employer or someone you knows employer is looking for people, let me know. I have experience doing a lot of different things and anything I don't have experience with I can learn. Many thanks in advance for the help.

Bright Side

In the past few years, I have yet to come across a sorrow that a little time with my girls could not drown. No matter how bad I can feel or how bad things seem, a warm heart is only a hug and a kiss away. I pray that everyone in this world could know the tranquility I know when I look in to the faces of my children.

Morning Window

Every morning I have a brief window right before my day truly begins. Between 6:00 and 6:30am there is a small moment for me to sit and drink espresso and it is almost like I have the world all to myself. Behind the door in the picture, all of my girls sleep tight, kind enough to grant me a little peace before they awake and the wheels really have to start moving. Right before breakfast cooking, lunch packing, laundering, cleaning, dressing and taxiing I can just sit and enjoy a little silence. It is a welcome contrast to the other twenty three and a half hours of every day.

Our First Children

Chopper and Harriett, our first children. A long time ago, olivia and I lived in a one bedroom apartment with just Harriett. She was the star of the show then and would snuggle and sleep with us all the time. When we got our house and Chopper came along, she split the scene for a while taking her time to get used to having another 4 legged family member to share the spotlight with. Then the first human child came and everything really changed. Thankfully for all of us, Chopper and Harriett are wonderful with children. We are lucky that all the children get along so well.

Cartwheel and Thunderfoot

A couple weeks ago I decided that if my children were superheroes, this would be there names. Ruby's gymnastic abilities and refusal to walk anywhere pretty much made Cartwheel a no-brainer. Sailor's defiant foot stomp and scowl often end up being cute despite the attached attitude so Thunderfoot was a good fit too. At some point is was decided that we would shoot a movie about their exploits which would also star Daddy as an evil monster. As of this posting, we haven't shot a single scene. I don't think the girls care how hard and involved making a movie can be. Maybe I just haven't come around to how simple it could be if we just did it. In any case, when it is finished, you'll see it here. I apologize in advance for my awful acting.

Little Helpers

We can pretty much forget about doing anything these days without a little help. In this case, it was making mac and cheese in their pj's help. Somehow when it comes to an un-fun task, like cleaning up the playroom, the enthusiasm doesn't come so quick but I guess you have to take it when you can get it.

Thank you!

Over the course of our fundraising for the Brenda Ladun Conquer Cancer Run we hit both of our goals coming in at a total of $505! I would also like to note that during this time we have consistently been in the top ten of all fundraising teams. At the time I am writing this we are #9 but at one point we were at the #3 spot. Thank you so much to everyone who joined the team and to everyone who donated, it really means the world to us. Your friendship and generosity are a blessing. Ok team, see you Saturday...let's do this!

Gallery

Sometimes I wonder how the refrigerator became the hanging spot of choice for children's artwork. Of all the other places in the house that scotch tape or push pins could make into a display area, perhaps the magnetic appeal of a giant swinging door simply won over the favor of mindful mothers afraid or doing damage to their home's walls. In any case, our gallery filled up quickly after a couple hours of coloring Friday afternoon. Ruby insisted that I hang mine with theirs. Can you guess which ones they are?
